Alternate directions:

  • From the South: Travel to Fredericktown, OH • Drive North on Rt. 170 from Calcutta to Main Street also known as Midland Fredericktown Road • Turn right onto Main Street (Midland Fredericktown Road) and follow into PA to Wildwood Road Ext • Turn left onto Wildwood Road Ext. and follow until it ends into Lisbon Road • There is no road sign at this intersection, but it is the only road that intersects Wildwood Road Ext • Turn left onto Lisbon Road which turns into State Line Road • Follow State Line Road to Pancake Clarkson Road and turn left • Follow Pancake Clarkson Road to the railroad overpass where roadside parking is available to access the preserve
  • From the North: Take St. Rt. 154 through Negley, OH into PA • OH St. Rt. 154 becomes St. Rt. 251 in PA • Follow PA St. Rt. 251 to State Line Road and turn right • Follow State Line Road to Pancake Clarkson Road and turn right • Follow Pancake Clarkson Road to the railroad overpass where roadside parking is available to access the preserve

Sheepskin Hollow Nature Preserve encompases an outstanding eastern hemlock ravine known as Sheepskin Hollow and mixed mesophytic woods adjacent to the North Fork of Little Beaver Creek State and National Scenic River.

Several impressive outcroppings of Pennsylvanian sandstone and shale occur in Sheepskin Hollow forming at least two scenic waterfalls.

Some of the more significant species of plants reported from the preserve include speckled wood-lily, pipsissewa, Bicknell's panicgrass, pink lady's slipper orchid and Canada fly-honeysuckle.

Local directions
Located 3 miles south of Negley on State Rte 170; proceed 1.5 miles east on Pancake-Clarkson Rd to the railroad overpass. Park near the railroad overpass and walk along the railroad to access Sheepskin Hollow.
